A Romanian "Thanksgiving"

Our first Thanksgiving in Romania was celebrated complete with turkey and pumpkin pie thanks to our dear friends, Kevin and Christi. They hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for about 35 people! A potluck gathering of missionaries and expatriates from the business community enjoyed a day of giving thanks. Christi made pilgrim hats for the whole lot and Kevin read the Thanksgiving story as well as President Bush's address to the nation.

Being far from loved ones on the holidays is difficult but we are thankful for the many friends God has provided. Like the first American pilgrims, we thank God for His blessings, faithfulness, provision and goodness.

When the word "Thanksgiving" was translated into Romanian, in order to keep it to one word, it became "Acknowledgment Day." For us, giving thanks to God is important, as is the fact that we acknowledge his helping us throughout our first year in Romania.
